Treasured Hunt challenge layout #3

here's my layout for this weeks challenge for the Treasured Hunt over at Treasured Scrapbooking.
Challenge requirements:
- Create a ONE PAGE layout
Layout must include:
- Journaling from someone/something else's point of view (not your own)
- Use at least one pic taken from a different perspective. I'm not going to be terribly specific on this because I want you to be creative, but what we're looking for here is something other than a smiling face looking directly at the camera. Maybe a candid shot of someone looking away, a shot from behind/above/below, focus on a particular body part, etc. Also, the photo doesn't necessarily have to be of a person... USE YOUR IMAGINATION!!
- use at least 2 different mediums of alphabet letters in your title (ex. rub-ons, chipboard, stickers, diecut, etc.). These must be two different kinds of alphas, not 2 different kinds of stickers or two different kinds of rub-on, but a mixture, like one rub-on and one chipboard for example. You may use more than 2 but it has to be at least 2. Make sense?

Everything else is up to you.

I decided to use my computer as my inspiration. Some days I hate this thing, but overall it's a faithful friend. My dh thinks the layout is stupid, but I don't care. ;) I really liked the challenge and I did a layout I would never have done otherwise. I just hope I can make it to the next round. The entries are wonderful and like I have said in the past, I don't know how the DT can narrow this down each week. SO glad I am not the one who has to decide. ;)

Some recent work

I was in a bit of a scrappy rut last week, but I did manage to create a few layouts and a card. The 'Afraid Of Spiders' layout is for the Treasured Hunt challenge #2 over at Treasured Scrapbooking. It's not one of my favorite layouts, and I am just hoping I can make it through to the next round. The talent is amazing, and I am anxiously awaiting the announcement of the next round of contestants to move forward sometime today. *gulp* The other 3 layouts are inspired from challenges over there as well. I like those much better. ;)

The card using the Pink.Sugar.Pop. stamps was inspired by the words "kiss kiss". I heard them on the TV the other day and this idea popped into my head. It's amazing where inspiration comes from and you never know when an idea is going to come together. I have learned over time to see and hear things in a creative artistic way, just another wonderful thing I have grown to do as a scrapper. :)

I have two fun toots! First, I was one of the freelance designers selected for the Kits and Pieces kit club! I am really excited about this! I think the concept of having a group of designers to pick and choose from as well as giving the designers an option to pass on a kit is a great idea! I am really looking forward to seeing how this is going to work. The kits are really cute!
I have a mystery toot, too... a real mystery to me. LOL! I will be a Guest Designer for a kit club next month, however I have no idea which one it is! Fun!

I ordered some of the new Fancy Pants Designs last night! I love it! More is coming to CMK soon, and I am sure I'll take another chunk of stuff when it arrives. Love, Elsie is due to come in soon as well. Yikes! Thank Goodness I have the good sense to pick and choose now or I'd be in trouble.

Nathan was accepted into school yesterday! I am soooo over the moon thrilled about this! He's going to be attending an alternative school and he'll be doing a lot of hands on work and they encourage him to work, so they will be allowing him to leave school early. He'll get to earn some elective credit hours for working, too, which is going to help him a lot! He *should* be graduating this coming June, however, he's got to start as a Freshman since he is 1 credit short of fulfilling his Freshman year. If he does a good job, then he will more than likely be able to do a re-entry program in the winter/spring which is more intense and covers a lot of ground. If he can pass that, then he can enter as a Senior next year and possibly graduate in Jan. of '09 or at the latest in June. I think he's going to have a wonderful experience there. Heck, I was envious... I want to go there! :)

Kara's flight was canceled last night, so she should be home this afternoon. We all miss her, but I'd rather her come home a day late and safe then not at all.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

In a funk

It's already Thursday and I haven't accomplished much of anything this week. I had planned to read (and hopefully finish) Harry Potter, but I haven't even touched it. There is thin layer of dust that has formed upon this book that I have intended to delve into since I stood in line at the midnight release to get. Oh well. There's always next week.

I did find the ironing board that I forgot we even had and spent an hour and a half ironing all of Kenny's work shirts. He almost fell to the floor when he looked in the closet and saw a tidy row of freshly pressed creases. Yeah, it was a miraculous moment that should be savored because I am not sure when that inspiration will arise again. I am sure no time soon. It's what a good wife is supposed to do, but it's just not my thing.

I haven't scrapped. I want to, but I just end up pushing things around. I didn't even want to *gasp* go online yesterday. This is a rare occurrence and I am glad that it was just a one-day event.

I sit here in the silence of the morning with little miss Molly curled upon my lap. No noise other than the hum of the fan, my fingers floating across the keyboard, Angel's not so soft snores, and the meowing of Jack who wants to go outside, but has an open gash on the side of his head, so in he stays. I can't recall the last time I didn't immediately turn the TV on to the news first thing in the morning. I can't say that I totally enjoy the silence, but it's comforting. My mocha is gone, and I could use another, but then I'd be a jittery mess.

Enjoy your Thursday! I hope you've had a more productive week than I.

Skye comes home today!

I am so happy! I pick Skye up from the airport at 1PM today. *happy dance* She's been off visiting her grandparents and dad for almost a month now, and it seems like so much longer. It's always so hard on my heart when she's gone, but I know she had a great time. Now, having said that, it's not going to be quiet around here anymore. LOL! She's an instigator and does not let things rest without her giving the final word. Hopefully her, Ashlyn and Emily will be able to get along for at least a few days. ;)

Our kitty Jack has another abscess. Not sure how he managed this, but it's about the size of a half dollar and sticks out about an inch from his head. I noticed it about 5PM last night and he's been doing something to it because when I woke up this AM I saw he's got a huge bald area and it's much larger than I even thought. We've tried to get it to burst using warm compresses, but it's not happening. I am going to call the vet today and have them lance it and get him on some antibiotics. We just did this with him in April.

No one works today, so we can all hang out.
Ashlyn lost a tooth last night. She's been working on that tooth for weeks and she finally wiggled that baby out late last night.
I was walking boot free all day for the first time yesterday! It was so odd to walk in a shoe all day, and by the late afternoon it was achy, but I can deal with that. Driving still puts the most pressure on my foot/leg so I am going to stick the boot when I drive. I really wish I didn't have to drive at all for a bit, but that's just not working out for me.

Today is our "deep" cleaning day where the kids have to clean everything in their rooms inclulding drawers, closets, dusting and vacuuming. As well as the rest of the house and yard. I have been keeping up on laundry all week, so I just have the bedding to wash today.
We're having fish and cheese tortellini for dinner. Kenny's cooking. Not sure how he's going to prepare it yet, but he did get lots of yummy fresh veggies last night, so it's sure to be good!
Enjoy your Sunday!

My challenge #1 layout is done!

Yay! I got my first challenge layout completed for the Treasured Hunt Challenge over at Treasured Scrapbooking.

The Challenge requirements:

Layout must include:
- a ONE word title
- ONE picture
- patterned paper from only ONE manufacturer
- ONE arrow
- the word "ONE" or the number "1" must be included somewhere on the layout (in the journaling, title, or elsewhere on the layout)
- Use ONE (and only one) technique from the following list:
* sewing
* inking
* sanding
* doodling
You may use other techniques in addition to these but you must use ONE and only ONE from the above list. (ex. if you sew, you can't also ink)

I am happy with the end result and just hope I can make it onto round #2! Wish me luck!

I watched this sweet girl today and it went well. It's cool to know that I am getting paid and still get to do what I love. Lucky me!

I should be scrapping

I really planned to scrap today, but I didn't. No mojo. I did just order the entire Mellow collection from Basic Grey though. *love* Shopping for scrappy supplies is almost as good as using them.

Kara and Meghan both got their food handler's cards today. Kara doesn't have a job yet, but when she gets back from her Aunt's, she plans to look. She would love to work at Starbucks and one just down the street hires at 17, so that's what she's hoping for when she turns 17 in a few months. They were both really worried that they wouldn't pass, but I assured them they would. After the test Kara told me that any kid in school should be able to get one and that she stayed up half the night stressing for no reason. I just smiled. When will they listen to someone who knows?

After they got their cards we had some time before Meghan had to get to work so we went to Value Village today and we scored some great deals. Kara got a skirt, some shirts and 3 pair of pants, one with the tag still on. Meghan got a skirt, a shirt and a pair of jeans. Even I got a pair of jeans and that's unusual for me. I have 2 pair now. I figure I need to get out of my lazy stay-at-home-and-veg-all-day clothes every now and then. ;) Kara found a pretty pink and black shirt that she wants to wear for school pics and it's really cute and fun! Both girls got some fun accessories, too. What's even cooler was that we got 20% off of everything! We have such a great time scouring thrift stores, I just wish we would have had more time. We'll hit the one here in the Valley next time and hopefully we'll find more great stuff!

Heather starts her job at the hospital cafeteria tomorrow and Katie will be here at 6:30AM. This will be my first full day of watching her and I just hope all goes well. She's a sweetheart, but I am not used to a toddler all day long. Nap time will be a well deserved break for sure! Sometimes I think I am crazy! *eeks*

For the lack of nothing else important to say, I will leave you now before I bore you to death. Off to do mundane tasks like cooking and laundry. Joy. Maybe I'll get motivated to scrap later. Maybe.

lots of fun stuff!

first of all, I created these layouts and card using some awesome stamps from Pink.Sugar.Pop. Oh how, I just love playing with these yummy stamps! They are so versatile and fun! If you haven't checked them out yet, be sure to do so, you will love what you see! Holly has brought back the Button It! set since so many people have requested it, and she has broken down Love Struck into individual stamps as well, so you can purchase as a set or individually. How cool is that?!

Something great: On Sunday, Meghan went in for a second interview at KFC and was hired! Yay Meghan!!! She's super excited! Yesterday was her first day and she is at work now. She works every day this week and will have Sunday off. I am very proud of her. :)

I have some fun scrappy news, too! I won the July Layout of The Month contest over at Treasured Scrapbooking and I won a $10 gift certificate. Super cool! I also made it through the first cut off, and am officially in the Treasured Hunt contest over there as well! I have to create a layout for the first round following specific guidelines. It's going to be a challenge, but fun! The talent is wonderful and I just hope to make it through to the next round. Wish me luck!

finally getting around to posting this

I really should have uploaded this last weekend when the actual CMK Christmas in July event occurred, but better late than never. ;)
This is the project I created for the crop. The idea behind it is to start on December 1st and remove a date each day until Christmas.
I used a plain cutting board as the base which I painted. Other supplies: Ki paper, Pink.Sugar.Pop. and Autumn Leaves stamps, ink, embossing powder, Basic Grey and Fancy Pants Designs chipboard, American Crafts Thickers, Scenic Route stickers, ribbon, MM glitter, buttons and pen work. My kids love this and can hardly wait until December to use it!

Yesterday my parents drove over to spend the day. We went to the Hot Rod Cafe out in Post Falls, Idaho for lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon just hanging out and chatting. I got my mom hooked on the new Scenic Route papers, which was a highlight for me. ;) I have some ordered and as soon as I get it I will send hers her way. New paper makes me very happy!

Guest Designer toot!

I am honored to have been asked to be the August Guest Designer for AC Bailey Designs! These are the projects I created with the yummy items I selected from the store. Thanks Erica and the girls on the DT for asking me!

It's so much fun to be a guest designer!
