Ally Scraps project

Goodness is time ever passing quickly. Not only is it the last day of July, it's my last day of being 38. My new phrase is going to be "I am knocking on 40's door'. I don't feel 39, and according to everyone I most certainly don't look it. When I was in my 20's, approaching 40 seemed like the worst fate ever, but now it's just a number... a number with grace (watching our bodies fall apart) and experience. lol
I do have to work a few hours tomorrow, but it's an early shift thankfully. My dh wants to take me out to dinner, but I want to stay home and just hang out. We are going to have a slew of seafood for dinner and maybe play cards. A perfect way to celebrate if you ask me. :)

Ally Scraps is participating in a blog hop sponsored by Adornit! Each of us on the DT created a project. It's been a long time (years) since I have made a bottle set, and when Cathy asked me if I would do one I told her it would be my pleasure. I forgot how fun these were and what a neat gift idea they are. I am sure you'll be seeing another set or two (or three) from me in the near future.

The girls on the team created some gorgeous projects! I am thrilled to be among such talent!

I am off to start my day... it's a full one. Take care,
Rae

SPCC #8

This is a few days late, but life has been crazy! Work and kids and Summer seem to have hit hard this past week. We had to take Ashlyn to the ER Monday night, and things are OK with her now, but some of her blood work has changed, and she has a crazy glucose level increase, something she has never had a problem with before. We are hopeful it's just another side affect of her Asacol. She seems to have a lot of them which is sad, but it's one of those meds where the benefits outweigh the risks. *sigh* Just a little extra stress for me, but as with anything this too shall pass.

Onto the color combo. This scheme screamed pumpkin patch to me so I dug out some Fall pics. Here is the combo:

and here is my layout:
oh yeah, I was lucky enough to have been chosen as an SP Diva! How cool is that?!

Mix It Up mixer 25

It's Wednesday! it's my last day of a 6 day work streak... yahoo! I am off tomorrow and Friday and am so looking forward to it. The only bonus is that it's air-conditioned at work and with the temps pushing the 100' mark, it's refreshing. :)

Here is my take on mixer 25 for the Mix it Up challenge blog. This was a fun challenge and it came together easily for me once I dug in. I stuck to the basics of the sketch and stayed true to the monochromatic theme, which I thought would be more difficult that it was. I hope you try it out, it's a wonderful way to stretch the creative mind.

It is my week to host a challenge on Ally Scraps, and since I made a card using some scraps from my miu layout, I decided to use the monochromatic theme as the challenge this time. I think I am going to give this a try using another color.

I am off to do some laundry and chores, and hopefully fit some scrapping in before work. Take care and thanks for stopping by!

SPCC #6

Good Monday morning! Just another quickie post today. Here is my card for SPCC #6. I didn't get it uploaded in time, even though I created it last week. Here is the color combo:

Thanks for peeking and have a great day!

just a card today

I am wiped out! It's been in the high 90's and I have been working from 3-10PM. Not a good combo for me. lol I am used to being asleep by 10, not still on my feet with a smile on my face. Tonight I work this shift again and then turn around and work from 9-5:30 tomorrow. Ugh. At least I can go to bed early. I pray that I don't have this shift often because it's killer. But for now as long as the kids are out of school, I will take what I can get.

I will leave you today with a card I made a few weeks back for a Di Hickman card sketch.

I have been scrapping, but I haven't taken pics so they'll have to wait a bit longer.

I hope you have a great weekend!
Take care,
Rae

Some work from Ally Scraps

Just a quickie post today. I have a few things to share that I have created for Ally Scraps. I used some 'Summery' Doodlebug paper along with a bright pink piece from 'My Little Shoebox' to create this Halloween layout. I like the contrast of the colors with the black bats.
These were created late last month and feature WRMK Nonsense collection and some Sassafrass Lass.
Take care,
Rae

'The Scrappy Shack' projects

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! I took the girls for a quick trip to Lake Chelan. It was our last 4th of July at my parent's house on the lake. We have had so many great 4th's there and it is bittersweet. I have no idea how else to celebrate as we have been going there for as long as I can recall. I will worry about that next year though. ;)

I have several scrappy projects I created using some fantastic die cuts from The Scrappy Shack. The more I play with them the more fun I have.
The layouts are made using the 'numbers lace' (not the one shown in the link, but I don't see it on the site. Sorry about that.) die cut.
I first used it as a mask for the '18' layout. I then cut it up and used it for the 'one 2 three... whee' layout.

I cut a 'Flourish Embellishment' in half and used it to create a swirl on this card.
I used my last of the three 'Flourish frames' for this one. These are so pretty!

Rae

Mix it Up!!!

I am delighted to say that I have been asked to be a DT member for Mix it Up!!! I am super excited to be on this team with the amazing talent of the other ladies! I hope you'll play along with the challenges. :)

Here is the layout I created for the DT call: we were asked to follow a sketch and use an inspiration piece for this one.
this layout is for mixer 23:
I hope you have a fun 4th of July! I am taking the girls to Lake Chelan to celebrate with my brothers and their families. It's always crazy, loud, but so much fun!
Take care,
Rae

Scrappy Shack and SPCC #4

Happy July! I worked my second shift at Target yesterday. I am enjoying this job. It's fun and so different than working at Michael's. It nice to work as a team and have a team to eagerly help you out if you have a question or need some assistance. I picked up on things quickly and about halfway through my shift yesterday everything really fell into place and I didn't realize it until I was lost in thought this morning. I am going to have a great time working there!

I have several scrappy things to share, but I will limit it today to just 2 of them. I was recently asked to be a DT member for The Scrappy Shack, an etsy site that specializes in creating wonderful die cuts. They are so fun to work with and the quality is great! I am going to have a new obsession I tell ya!

I decided to combine the use of some die cuts with the beautiful color challenge this week over at SPCC. When I first saw the color challenge I was at a loss as to how I would pull this one off, but once I started pulling paper, it came together quickly. I really, really like the fresh citrusy feel of this color combo and would have never thought to do this on my own. The black Scrappy Shack die cut frames were the perfect accent to the airy colors. I liked the color combo so much that I also created a card using the same colors. I just added some more black to give it a more elegant feel.

here is the color combo:

for the Gotcha! layout I cut one of the die cut flourishes and used it as an accent to add some movement and grounding to the page. I like how simple this layout is, but the frame just gave it that extra punch to pull it all together (forgive the glare on the photos).

For the Happy Birthday card I also used a flourish die cut. I applied black Stickles on it to glam it up a bit. Once again, the color combo is fresh and playful, but can be used in a more elegant manner as well.

Take care,
Rae
