Blue Jean Baby

Hi! I cannot believe that Summer is almost over. My girls will start school next week and then the carefree days of Summer will quickly fade into homework, cooler temps and football. Skylar will be a senior this year and Ashlyn will be in 8th grade. I wish I could rewind back to June. :)

The final Summer Challenge has come for The Memory Nest. This is my layout for challenge #8.

I REALLY struggled with this one. I was so stressed for scrappy time, which I haven't had, I threw something together Saturday morning and I hated it. So much so that I threw the layout I had originally created for this challenge into the garbage. My kids looked at me with their jaws dropped to the ground. I have never done that before. lol So I sat back down and tried again and came up with this layout which I like much better.

Here is the challenge sketch and twist:

Head on over and share your layout created with this challenge. I'd love to see it! :)

I am off to Shriner's Hospital with Ashlyn today. It's going to be a long morning.

Use Your Words 8/15 challenge- Believe in yourself

Another very delayed posting. I thought I had done this one on Sunday, but apparently not. As soon as I get back to my regular work schedule I will be more on top of things again. This is a super busy time of year for me to work full-time. However, I just need to make it until September 4th. I can do that. lol

Here is my take on the UYW August 15th challenge. The word is believe. I really struggled with this one. I wanted to create a meaningful layout and when I came across the quote, I knew exactly the photo I was going to use. Then it all fell together quickly and I love the end result.

I would also like to take a minute to thank everyone for stopping by.
I also need to apologize for not stopping by your blogs. I plan to devote some time this weekend and browse blogs and leave some feedback. I miss seeing what everyone is creating and I know it's always nice to get a comment. :)

Take care! :)

A card and some layouts- featuring Back Porch Memories

Me again. :) I am sharing a card and two layouts I created using the wonderful August Medley kit from Back Porch Memories.

First I have a layout using the August sketch challenge (which can be viewed by signing up for the newsletter on the home page).

This is my favorite layout I created using this kit. (Sorry about the horrible photo, but it was the best I could get.)

Here is a card. I used the paper sack that the kit goodies came in to create a coordinating envelope.

And my last layout using the kit. I used the packaging from a Fancy Pants add-on that I purchased to create the cork butterflies and area on the layout.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a beautiful day! :)

Keeping Cool- The Memory Nest Summer Challenge #6

Hi! :) Sorry this is a few days late (I will be posting a few late challenges in the next two days), but I was asked to work some extra hours at work and it has just sapped the energy right from me. Here is my layout for The Memory Nest Summer Challenge #6:

Here is the sketch and color palette:

I found this one extremely challenging- not sure why- but I think it was the green.

I hope you will play along. You can upload your completed layout here.

Molly 1 2 3 Get Scrappy challenge #1

Hi all! :) The first challenge on the 1 2 3 Get Scrappy blog is live!

Here is the challenge board:

The challenge is easy! You just need to pick whichever row of 3 in any direction you would like and then create a layout using the items in that row(s). You can add anything else as long as the items in your row is prominent.

Here is my layout. I used two rows; the butterfly, free and lace row as well as the color red, free and thickers.

I do hope you will play along! You can click here for all the details.

Some fun announcements!

Hello! :) Today I have two announcements. First off, I am excited to share that I was selected as a design team member for another brand-new challenge blog called 1 2 3 Get Scrappy! I am looking forward to working with some ladies I am on other teams with as well as getting to know the other talented ladies on the team. You can check out the wonderful team by clicking here.

The first challenge reveal is tomorrow and I encourage you to check it out. It is such a fun concept with so many possibilities. The team has some terrific work showcasing the many ways you can use this challenge and I would love to see you play along! :)

Secondly, last month I entered a layout to be a guest designer for Back Porch Memories, a kit club and online community and my layout was selected as the "winning entry" which means that I won the chance to work with one of the awesome monthly kits. You can see the kits by clicking here.

This is the layout I entered using the monthly guest designer sketch:

I used some Echo Park, Fancy Pants and MME.

I was given the beautiful August Medley kit to work with:

(it's basically 3 mini-kits)

I also got to host a challenge. I can share my challenge layout with you today. I decided to create a pie-chart challenge since they are such a hot trend right now. I simply punched several circles out of a few of the papers from the kit and then cut them into pieces and randomly placed together. My layout is quite simple and everything but the buttons is from the kit.

You, too, can enter to become a guest designer. All you need to do is sign up to become a member of the Back Porch Memory forum and locate the monthly guest designer sketch challenge.

I will be back tomorrow with my layout for the first 1 2 3 Get Scrappy! challenge. See you soon. :)

Pooltime- CMS #43

Hello! :) This layout is a few days "late" and I did not even realize until this morning that this layout is not on the Color Me Scrappy #43 blog post. I completely forgot to post a picture of it, so therefore it was not added to the blog. Sorry about that!

Without further ado, here is my layout for the current challenge. It is both a color and a sketch layout for this challenge and you can check them both out by clicking here:

When I was initially creating this layout I was not at all happy with what I came up with, so instead of adhering everything to the page I started over and am much happier with the end result.

Once again, the design team did such a fantastic job on the challenge! It's always neat to see how everyone interprets the color palette as well as the challenge. I hope you'll join this challenge. :)

UYW- Live in the moment

I am back with another post today, this time it is for the Use Your Words August 1st challenge word- Moment. This is the second challenge from the blog. We'd love to have you share your take on the challenge word!

 Here is my layout:

The challenge is to use the word "Moment" anywhere on your layout. I encourage you to check out the stunning layouts created by the design team by visiting the Use Your Words blog post here.

Some cards for The Memory Nest Summer challenge #4

Hello! :) This is my first of several posts today. I just didn't have time to get this one posted yesterday.

The newest challenge on The Memory Nest blog went live yesterday and I just adore what my teammates created! WOW! You will have to head over there and check their work out.

Here is what I created for Summer Challenge #4:
I decided to make a couple of cards instead of a layout for some variety. I have to say though, that it would have been quicker to make a layout. lol

Be sure to click on the links above to check out the color palette and twist for this challenge! I look forward to seeing what you create. :)
