dandelion wishes

Hello! :) I was lucky enough to have been one of the lucky ladies selected to be on The Memory Nest Summer design team. yay! I am excited to be working with the challenges throughout the Summer. There will be one posted each week starting July 1st so be sure to check them out on The Memory Nest's blog.

This layout was created using sketch #34 from the My Scraps & More Sketches blog as well as the June color challenge from The Memory Nest. I used a silvery mist which gives it a nice shimmer, and the tissue paper adds a nice light whimsical feel to this layout.

Have a wonderful day! :)

Ashlyn & Skylar

Hello! :) The sponsor over on the About a Girl challenge blog is Artful Delight. I had never heard of this kit club before so I checked it out and really like the variety and contents of their kits. I also noticed that they have a sketch contest for guest designers so I decided to play along with both the June 15th challenge on the AAG blog, which is to use bold colors and prints, as well as use the sketch from Artful Delight.

I really like how eclectic the mix of the Crate Paper and Echo Park papers I used for this layout are, and they work so well together (at least I think they do ;)).

These two sweet beautiful girls are truly best friends. It warms my heart how much they love each other. Skylar is going to be a Senior this coming school year, and Ashlyn will be in 8th grade. I know eventually they are going to be apart, but I just hope the love and friendship they share sticks with them through their adult lives.

To check out each of the challenges just click the colored text above.
You can see the sketch for the layout on the right sidebar, there is also a card sketch which I think I am going to give a go. I don't make enough cards anymore.

Have a beautiful day! :)

when you smile

I had a lot of fun making this layout. I adore the colors in it and it came together so quickly- that I can thank on an awesome sketch.
The sketch is a PageMaps sketch and it was linked up on The Memory Nest blog for the June sketch challenge. I also used a doily, which is the June 1st challenge on the About a Girl challenge blog. I just discovered this challenge site after someone left a comment on a previous post of mine. Having 5 girls, this is definitely a challenge site I can totally dig. I must have been under a rock to have not known about this one.

You can check out the sketch by clicking here.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

toothless grins

This layout was created using sketch #31 from the My Scraps & More Sketches blog. I was a bit worried that I was going to end up with a top heavy layout since I flipped the sketch upside down, but by using the lighter colors at the top and then the orange underneath them all I think I was able to balance it out well especially with the darker circle accents.

You can check out this sketch as well as many others by clicking on the colored text above.

Have a fantastic day! :)

CMS #39- stylin'

As soon as I saw the color palette for the Color Me Scrappy challenge #39 I got really excited. The palette is so rich and vibrant and I knew exactly which collection I was going to use.

Yeah.

Then I got to work and I have to say that I really struggled with this layout. I have been working on it for days, and honestly I am not very fond of the end result, but I just decided enough was enough and I called it good. I think I was really hung up on the sketch for this challenge- which is the twist this time, which you can access by clicking on the link above. I'd love to see your takes on this fun challenge!

Here is my layout:

one for you, one for me

You know that feeling when you complete a layout that just melts your heart? Well this layout is one of those for me; I just adore it! It's not a great photo, but the photo is very sweet and takes me back down memory lane. :)

I also adore the (new to me) Heidi Swapp butterflies that you just add some mist to, wipe away the excess and let dry. Oh my! I have used these on two cards and this layout this week and I think I have my new favorite item! I had to stop by Michael's on my way home from work yesterday to pick up another package. I should have picked up several of them. lol Next time.

my layout was inspired by this really cool sketch on the My Scraps & More Sketches blog- sketch #30.  I originally had nothing but the pink chevron papers, but it lacked color and character so I added the yellowy papers and then thought a stripe of grey across the photo would add visual appeal. I just love mixing prints.

challenges {card}

It's been a long time since I have made a card, but I was inspired by the sketch that Leslie shared on The Memory Nest's blog on Friday, and then then today's challenge on My Scraps & More was to make a card using a quote so I was double inspired to create this card!

I used scraps and this came together in just minutes. I love it when that happens. I used to make cards more than layouts and I have boxes full of them. I tend to not make them very often, but I really should change that. I could use up my box of scraps in no time if I did.

Here is my card. I was thinking of Ashlyn when I searched for the quote. I might just send this to a random person on one of the many Crohn's facebook pages I am a part of. I would love to spread a bit of sunshine to someone in need of some. :)
