Sending big HUGS

Our daughter Skylar is away at Basic Training and when I saw this Big Hugs Stamp set along with the dies from PaperTrey ink, I just HAD to have them! I rarely use stamps, I am not sure why, but I absolutely adore this set and the many possibilities it holds.

Here is the first card:

And the second:

(I added a glassine bag full of die cut "Hugs" since one can never have too many).

Both of the cards have stamped sentiments inside, which I did not photograph.

Salted Caramel and Peppermint Hot Cocoa gift baskets

Merry Christmas Eve! I made these hot chocolate gift baskets using supplies from the Curtsey Boutique Etsy store (which is taking a short break at the moment).

The "Salted Caramel set"features warm cozy tones. The wooden berry baskets were painted white and then I added some gold mist once dry. I used a white fabric ruffle flower on one basket and a white paper die cut snowflake on the other. I then layered them with various die cuts from the store. The cocoa was placed in glassine bags and the caramels are in textured smaller glassines. The marshmallows are in some cello bags, also from the store.

These "Peppermint" baskets were done in a similar manner, but I used red and silver to create a cooler feel to go along with the peppermint.

These were easy and fun to make. The recipients were wowed by the presentation of the "simple" yet thoughtful gift.

Everything but the ribbon and some of the twine is from the store.

I hope you and your family have a Blessed Christmas!

love this

This layout has been created using the sketch for the DT call on The Memory Nest blog. I have been playing along with the sketches and thought that I might as well apply for the team since I enjoy creating with them.

 and a doily

and one more thing since the past few days have been crazy busy---

This girl- my sweet Skylar- officially swore into the US Navy yesterday and headed off to Basic Training last night. I got her teary arrival phone call at about 10:15PM last night. I am SO PROUD of her and so incredibly BLESSED to be her momma. She is going to be an MA (Military Police) and is our third (and last) daughter to join the Navy.

I have been a wreck. Although it is the third time I have done this, it was still just as sad and hard on this momma's heart. Having her being away at Boot Camp during this time of year makes it a bit more difficult, too. She should graduate sometime in early February. I am looking forward to seeing my "new and improved" Skylar once Basic Training is over for her.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

happiness is {jar}

Hi! It's time for challenge 7 at Scrapy Land and it's another Anything Goes challenge. I picked up these fun X-Cut Feathers Dies and wasn't quite sure what I was going to use them for, all I knew is that I wanted them and that I would some way to use them.

These feather dies are a nice size and can easily accommodate a few words or even a sentence, so after some thought I decided to create a Happiness Is jar. The idea is to write a little something on a feather that is positive or about a good moment/event that has happened throughout the year and at the end of the year we can open it and recall all the wonderful things/moments that have occurred.

I created the "nest" using the Impression Obsession Twig Wreath die (can you tell I love this one?!). I cut two, layered and then cut about a 1/4" off to create a bit of roundness and then adhered the ends together. You can easily cut more  off to create a deeper nest.
