some cards for Color {me} Daisy and a layout

Here are some cards I created with the August Splish-Splash kit from Color {Me} Daisy. It's available for purchase now. It's a pretty kit as you can see! I am transparency challenged (at least I think so) and I struggled with how to use it but I decided to try making some transparency cards. They were fun and I tried something new. That is what I love most about scrapping, trying something new and stepping out of my comfort zone.
Also the site is live, so come on over the message board and say "hi!". Be sure to check out the gallery where all the gorgeous projects from the DT are posted. Fabulous stuff I tell ya!

I also created a layout with a sketch from the Creatively Yours blog. It's based off of 12x12 #10. The pics are dark irl, but they truly capture the personality of these two angels. :)
I am going to try to get to the card sketch as well, but I am not sure if time will allow or not.

My mother-in-law and father-in-law are in town for a few days. They are staying with my bil/sil tonight and will spend Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night with us. They are going home on Friday (which is my birthday) and after I drop them off at the bus station I am heading North to 'A Stamp 4 All' scrapbooking store for a fun Christmas in August event. I am really looking forward to it! What a fun way to spend a birthday! :)

I'll be back in a few days to post some cards and maybe something else if I get a chance to scrap. Enjoy the rest of July... I just cannot believe another month is almost behind us.

Fun news and Color {Me} Daisy projects

First off, check this out!!! Photobucket how cool is that?! I am beyond thrilled and quite honestly surprised that little ole me was selected out of about 100 other submissions. I had to read the email several times because I couldn't believe it! lol! I cannot wait to start playing with the fabulous chipboard!!!

I have been playing with the August Splish Splash kit from Color {Me} Daisy. I tried a few things that I have been wanting to try, like the tussy mussy's and the banner, and even created a graphic/simple layout which I am not so sure about. I like it, it's just so boring... I am sure it's the lack of journaling that is what is throwing me off. There are so many ways to use this kit and they'll be available this week!

nothing went as planned today, but it's all good

You those days where you think one thing is going to happen and then you end up doing something else? Well today was one of those days for me. My intention was to get up, start some laundry and dig in my Color {Me} Daisy kit. Nope, didn't happen. Instead I ended up wasting some time on the 'net and then I got a phone call asking me if I was interested in a telemarketing job, which is totally something I don't want to do. However, I gave it some thought and decided that it paid well and the hours were good (just 3 hours 3 days a week) and that we are going to need the money once all the medical bills start rolling in, so why not. So I drove to the Temp. agency (my dh uses them and is good friends with the owner) and filled out an application. That was scary in itself. Skills? What skills do I have that would apply to a job. out there in the real world?! OK, I know I have some, but when you are asked to list them it's quite overwhelming. I've been a mom for 10 years, only working at Michael's as a cashier for a short time a few years back. I told the secretary that I scrapbook and then immediately felt stupid for saying that! *eek* Thankfully she was quite nice and told me that she admires scrapping and wishes she had the ability to do so, but she's not artsy. We then got into a conversation about how scrapping has a lot of qualities that I could relate to employment. Huh. At least I left feeling less useful than when I filled out the application.

Then I came home and intended to scrap. But I got sidetracked. Again. I decided that today was a great time to pack the car full, and I mean full, of much of the things we've had in our garage that I intended to sell in a yard sale. I realized that the way things have been to plan a yard sale would be too much work and stress so I decided just to donate it all to Value Village. Kara and I hop in the car to run the items to VV and what should have been a 25 minute round trip at most turned into almost 90 minutes. Why you ask? Because being the genius that I am, I locked my keys in the car! It was actually quite amusing because the employee that was going to help me unload had to instead go in search of a wire hanger. Ten minutes later he comes back with one in hand. Silly me thought HE was going to help me break into my car, but no, he wasn't allowed to... and even if he could he didn't know how. So there I am, completely clueless as to how the heck I am supposed to do this, trying to cram a coat hanger down my door with high hopes of this being a simple task and the door magically popping open on my first try. That must only happen in the movies. I was struggling and looking like a complete fool and Kara was just laughing. I had to wonder where were the "criminals" when I needed one? Two men tried to come to my rescue, but they were just as hopeless as I was, which leads me to believe that there needs to be a course in this for High School students (I am just kidding, but at the time I wasn't). The two men thought I was a bit wacky. While we were trying to figure this out, Kara was inside the store calling my dh to try to get the car open. After he heckled me for doing something so silly, he pulled out some tools designed to get the job done quickly. Well, that didn't work. After about 20 minutes he gave up and drove home to get the spare keys (which I must add that I suggested this in the first place... but we all know men. ;)). I am quite thankful I didn't call AAA because they wouldn't have been able to do it either; they would have the same tools as my dh did.
Finally we got the car open and unloaded and the employee's were actually cheering for me. At least they were all really nice and kept checking on me while I was waiting. Aside from taking a long time, it was quite comical. :) AND I got rid of tons of stuff! I feel lighter already. I have enough for another load, but I think I'll wait until the weekend when my dh can drive me. *giggle*

Then I came home, made dinner and took Kara to the airport. She's going to spend the next two weeks with her Aunt and Uncle. Fun stuff there!

Now I am going to finish this entry and head off to bed early and watch some Ghost Hunters. I sure hope tomorrow is productive in a scrappy kind of way. :)

The card is from this weeks card sketch (July #4) on Di Hickman's blog. I used the Blueberry Lime Parfait Birthday Card Kit from Cherries Jubilee Creations.

cards, folders and fabric

It's a nice cool refreshing day! It's currently raining and only about 66' outside. A welcome break from the 90's! The air smells clean and fresh and it's nice not to be too hot for a change.

Here's my card for sketch this 59. I wanted to create a masculine card and I think I pulled it off this time! I struggle with masculine and want to broaden my horizons. Everything is Scenic Route except the ribbon and button. You know, SR needs to add ribbon to their collections. That would be fabulous!

The other two cards are created with a kit from Cherries Jubilee. These kits are so cute! There are currently 2 kits to choose from. I have both. :) You need to check them out!

I took the girls out and ran a few errands this morning. We went to the Library, the bank, then to an awesome Quilt Shop that I visited for the first time yesterday and then wrapped everything up at Target.

The quilt shop is amazing!!! I am not a quilter, or even much of a sewer (unless it's on paper) and just walking into the front door of this place made me want to quilt like a mad woman! The store is called Simply Kits Quilt Shoppe and it's in a cute house off a main road. I have wanted to stop in there so many times, but never did until yesterday when Skye and I were out running around. I spied some darling fabric that I thought Ashlyn would love so I brought her back today to get her opinion. We are going to redo her room after Emily leaves (she's staying in it currently). OH, I forgot to mention yesterday that we found an almost brand new wooden bed AND an almost brand new Sealy mattress for only $25.00 (they are only a little over a year old)!!! It was out front of one of our neighbor's house and they just wanted to get rid of it. SCORE! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. :) That was my happy moment on Sunday.

Back to Ashlyn's room... she wants a "Lemonade" room; light pink and yellow walls with reds and blues and yellows and pinks brought in. Her idea, she totally approached me with it a few weeks ago and had it all planned out. Who knows, maybe she'll end up being a designer of some type in the future. Anyhow, she loves cats and dogs and as soon as I saw this 1930's inspired fabric I knew it would be perfect for her! It's got the perfect colors as well as such cute and fun prints. I was hoping she'd love it as much as I do and she did. I didn't pressure her, I was really casual about it, but inside I was jumping for joy. I really like the vintage-y feel. I bought all the squares and rest of the fabric, which was the yellow dog/cat print.
Now I am not sure what I am going to do with all of it because she wants curtains and a quilt and I don't know how to do either! lol! I am praying my mom will come to my rescue and make the quilt since she makes quilts often. I'll figure something out for the curtains. I really need to find a way to get some more of this fabric, primarily the cats/dog prints in pink, so if anyone knows of any places I might be able to find it, please let me know. :)

And last but not least we hit Target. I *heart* Target. I need a shirt that says I *heart* Target. Kara and Ashlyn and I oohed and ahhed over all the totally cute clothes for kids! I think Ashlyn wanted one of everything, especially plaid. I said that I wish I had a thousand dollars to spend there right now and Ashlyn responded with, " We have a lot in common mommy!". Crack me up! We went to shoes and checked out all the fun styles there. We then met up with Meghan, Emily and Skye back in school supplies. There is some really cute things! Ashlyn found two folders she likes (skulls and puppies... what a combo. HA! the folder that looks white is actually a light blue) and Meghan and Kara wanted the same hedgehog and owl ones. Aren't they darling?!

Well I think I have written a book today. I need to get off here and take Meghan to work and then start dinner... baked bbq chicken breasts, fresh steamed green beans and garlic cheddar mashed potatoes.... perfect comfort food for a rainy day! Have a great one!

OH, I also got my yummy kit from Color {Me} Daisy! today. It's so pretty! I can't wait to dig in and play! :)

I had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Monday! I had a fabulous weekend! I think it's the most "normal" weekend we've had in quite some time. :)
On Saturday Skye and I ventured off to a stamp/scrappy store that I had no idea existed until Dee (the owner of My Acrylic Album) posted that she was going to hold a trunk show there! Where the heck have I been? lol! The name of this fabulous store is 'A Stamp 4 All' and it sure lives up to it's name. I was wowed from the minute I stepped foot inside! I could have done some serious shopping but I kept it to just a small amount. Not only is the store fabulous, but the owner Dawn and one of the instructors Jessica are super nice!!! We talked for quite awhile and I had such a great time! They are hosting a Christmas in August event the first weekend in August and I am so excited about it! It sounds so fun! I will be taking the drive out that way more often... it's well worth it! :) I left that store full of energy and I have been riding the wave since. It's a combination of a great shopping experience and wonderful people. I am pretty shy and don't generally talk a lot, but the fact that we related on so many levels was exciting. I know all you scrappers can relate, because people who don't scrap just don't get it.
After we left the store (reluctantly I might add), Skye and I stopped at a few of the antique stores on the way home. OMG, talk about heaven! I wish I had disposable income to just buy buy buy! One thing that caught my eye was a vintage shoe ottoman and I am not even into shoes! It was gorgeous! I don't even know what I would do with it, but I sure want it! I could easily find a spot for it! :) There are plenty of antique stores that are along that road that I wanted to stop at, but Skye was hungry and we both wanted to get home. Sometime soon we'll take a day as a family and hit all the stores.

I completed 3 more challenges from the online crop on Scrapbooker's Club House. That's all I am going to get to, and it was nice to dig in and play for a bit. On the 'marshmallows and s'mores' layout I sprayed the top part of the Thickers with some Tattered Angels Gingerbread Glimmer Mist to give them a toasted look. It looks so much better irl. I just love this stuff!

Kenny and I played 4 games of Yahtzee (we play the full sheet each time). I kicked his butt one game big time, and won 2 others, but not by much.
I took Ashlyn, Skylar and Emily to the Y yesterday afternoon so they could swim for a few hours. They had a lot of fun! I might take them back today. I do need to get Skye a new suit though because the chlorine has trashed her "Y suit" to the point that it's see through and saggy. I need to get on that today as well.

Kenny is still feeling great! So far the increase in meds is holding steady and he's got a lot of energy. He even baked cookies yesterday while the girls and I were at the Y, AND he made 5-cheese grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. It's been months since he's been in the kitchen (other than daily basics). We usually cook together on Sunday's and eat as a family since it's the one day a week we are all home for dinner, but with him not having felt well for quite some time we didn't get to do this. Normal is nice. :)

I hope today is a good mail day! I am expecting my first kit from the brand new kit club Color {Me} Daisy! It was shipped on Saturday and it would be a great start to the week to get it today! The site "officially" kicks off in August, but come on by and check out the message boards and register. It's always fun to start a new site and you could be a huge part of it! The DT girls are awesome and I am so excited to see what they are going to create with the kit!

I am going to skip water aerobics today. I swear it's one thing after another. My ankle has been really sore since Friday morning and I have had to resort to wearing my brace again for much of the day. It's a good thing I still drive with my left foot. ;)

I hope your week is off to a great start!

A Scrappy Day

I decided to take a day and scrap, well a day and a half since I started yesterday afternoon. Last night I created 2 layouts and today I completed another layout, a card and finished my last butterfly for My Acrylic Album. I am in progress of another layout and a card and have plans to do at least one more layout tonight.
The card only took me 1o minutes... I shocked myself... it just came together. I wish they all worked out like that!
I am going to give the butterfly to Emily when she goes home next month. She doesn't feel good about herself and maybe if she see's it everyday and repeats it, she'll start to believe it.

My motivation is an online crop on Scrapbooker's Clubhouse. I joined the site a week ago and it's a fun place! I hope to get to most of the challenges.

Not much going on around here. The girls are getting along well. I bought some sidewalk chalk yesterday and they are having a blast coloring every spare piece of concrete. :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Wednesday already. I know I say it time and time again, but I am awed with how quickly the days just melt away. I was really hoping to make it to water aerobics this morning, but instead I ended up taking my dh to the cardiologist where we spent 2 hours doing various tests. His heart went out of rhythm about 3AM, his heart rate was bouncing from the 40's to the 220's (my parents gave him the gift of a hi-tech watch early last week that measures your heartrate and records it. this baby has been extremely helpful for monitoring this) and the incision site on his left leg has a huge lump and the bruising is almost a foot long and about 3" wide. He had two EKG's, an ultrasound of the vein, an echo and then a visit with the on call cardiologist. Thankfully everything is right there in the office. It would have been such a pain to have to run from one place to another. Everything looks good and they bumped up his Flekanide to 125mg twice daily now in hopes this extra amount will do the trick. In all honesty I am not surprised this happened. It's day 5 of him taking the meds and for the past 4 weeks the trend has been exactly this: they work well for 4 days, day 5 he can feel things going downhill and on day 6 we are in the ER to get him in loaded up on the meds again. It's a pattern that keeps repeating without fail. Hopefully this increase will work and we won't have to go back until the 31st. He has been feeling so well the past few days and he was frustrated and angry with the situation. He's so worried that he's going to end up losing the ground he's made. He's back in rhythm now and is feeling a whole lot better. I guess we both thought the rollercoaster ride was over since he was feeling so well, but it was a call back to reality. There is still progress to be made and it's going to be a bit longer before the process is complete.

On Monday evening someone came by and took the last sweet little kitten. It was sad and we all cried, but just like the others I feel in my heart that he went to a great home. He's going to be a vegan... lol! His new owner actually makes her own tofu cat food. Can you believe that?!
Molly saw him go and hasn't been looking for him or the other kittens since. She's getting back to her old mean self again too. :)

Some cards:
'I'm so proud of you' card created for Di Hickman's July card sketch #3 and 'Dream Inspire Believe' card created for sketch this 58.

I am going to try to scrap today. I just pushed stuff around yesterday. I think I need some new photos to inspire me. I hope to finish my last butterfly this afternoon and get it photographed, but I am not holding my breath with the way things have gone lately I'll be lucky to have it done anytime soon. lol!

I hope you are having a great week! :)

MAA DT work and a card

I made some time to create a bit today and photograph a project I finished several days ago. It feels great to just veg and scrap. I caught up on most things and even went grocery shopping, something I haven't done for a few weeks.

Most of these projects are for My Acrylic Album.
The butterfly is #2 of 3 and was created with the awesome butterfly album. Once again I used the yummy papers from October Afternoon that Ashlyn selected. I placed the blue pp on the bottom-side of the album and then cut the paper on top a bit smaller, folded and curled the edges and left sticking up a bit for dimension.
I hope to work on the 3rd butterfly tomorrow and maybe I'll even be able to finish it. :) Then I have another cute album to get to. I have an idea, I just need the time.

Skye made cupcakes this afternoon and that gave me an idea. I have been itching to use these cute Penguin Pants buzzy-bugz stamps that were included in my goodie box from My Acrylic Album so I whipped up these cute little cupcake decorations. I just stamped the image with black ink, cut around the image and then added some color and glitter to the wings. It was super easy and the girls really like having them atop their treats. :)
You can purchase several sets of the Penguin Pants stamps on My Acrylic Album. Cute stuff I tell ya!

Another goodie in our box from MAA was a set of these very cool Ribbon Rings. (yes, we were spoiled!) I have to admit that I was skeptical about trying this. I rather like my system of digging through my ribbon mess, but this is actually pretty cool. I put my longest strands on this and it's really easy to see them and get to them. This system is perfect if you are short on space because you can just hang them on your walls or even on a door. I am going to be getting some more of these for sure! :)

Last but not least is my card for the Di Hickman July #2 card sketch. I decided to create a baby boy card with some scraps of OA. It was a fun sketch!

I just want to thank everyone for all their support and thoughts and prayers for my dh and our family. It's amazing how one can feel so much love from people they have never met. Yall are the BEST! :)

progress

Yesterday was another LONG day spent at the hospital. My dh went in for another Cardiac Ablation first thing in the morning and this time it was a success! Thank you Lord! They were able to locate several areas and basically burn them so they will not interfere with the correct current of his heart. However, there are still many areas that they were not able to take care of and so they are going to have to go back and do this once again. They are going to do something a bit different next time. For now he's still stuck in the hospital. :( he should have been able to go home late yesterday afternoon, but his heart rate is still all over the place and he's white as a ghost and faint. I didn't get a chance to speak with the cardiologist yesterday either... I went home for an hour to make dinner for the girls and that's when he showed up. *sigh* So I am pretty clueless about what is going to happen next. I am sure I'll know more soon. It's hard not to know what's going to happen next.
I just got a call and I am going to pick him up in two hours. Yay! He'll be home and we can have a somewhat normal life for a bit.

ugh

well, yesterday was a very long and disappointing day. :( My dh had a Cardiac Ablation late yesterday afternoon and the results are not what we were were hoping for. The cardiologist wasn't able to get his heart to react enough to be able to pin point a troublesome node(s). He did find one node that reacted, but since it wasn't coordinating with the readings of the EKG, he didn't feel comfortable burning it since it could cause complications. What's really hard to take is that his heart beat PERFECTLY yesterday. Not kidding. Ugh! Don't get me wrong, that's great, however, it was the first time in nearly a month that this was the case. *eyeroll* Maybe everyone prayed too hard. *giggle* However, the cardiologist thinks that the meds just didn't work out of his system yet because he knows there is something; the proof is on the piles of EKG strips as well as him witnessing huge spikes and arrhythmia himself. SO he admitted him to the Cardiac Unit and stopped all the meds with the exception of the Cardizem (he's taking a low dose to keep his blood pressure down) and he'll repeat the procedure again sometime Friday morning. Hopefully things will work out then.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers everyone, they mean the world to us!

scrappy stuff

Good morning! It's going to be another beautiful day here. It's going to be in the high 80's with a light breeze. Another perfect Summer day. :)

I am going to take the girls to the library soon and then we are going to play a game later this afternoon. Skye is making brownies right now and I cannot wait to bite into one. I don't know how she does it, but they turn out perfectly! This girl can cook and she loves to do so. She has made something just about every day so far. I should get her some cake decorating stuff and see what she can do with that. For a girl with ADHD who struggles to focus on just about everything, she does well in the kitchen... for the most part. *giggle* She does tend to wander off right in the middle of things and I have to remind her that she is in the kitchen where she has to pay attention to what she is cooking. ;) I think she likes the tasks that are involved in baking/cooking. She has to have order and there is plenty to be found in the kitchen.

Here is my card for Sketch This 57. I tried to create something more masculine, but I wasn't all that successful. Oh well, I tried. :) As always I adore the work of the other girls! They are fabulous!

And here is one of three butterfly wall hangings I made with the Butterfly album from My Acrylic Album. I used two pages and joined them together to create a butterfly. I am working on the second butterfly now. Ashlyn picked out the papers, the girl has good taste because these October Afternoon papers are my new fav!

Have a fabulous day!

I'm a Daisy Girl!

My girls are home with us and once again I feel complete. It's always hard to be away from them. They had a fabulous time with Grandma and Grandpa as well as their Aunts, Uncles and cousins and we spent most of the afternoon listening to their stories and all the fun things they did. My parents took us out to dinner and then headed home. It's always wonderful to see them. I do wish Kenny, Kara, Meghan and I could have gone, but at the same time it was nice to just have the "big girls" home and by themselves for the weekend. That never happens.

Guess what?! I am a Daisy Girl! When I sent my submission in for this DT over a month ago, I sure as heck didn't expect to see my name up there. I got an email this morning telling me I had made the inaugural team and I am really excited about this! It's fun to be a part of something just starting out. I am not sure if I "know" any of the other girls, but I look forward to getting to know them and work with them. :)

I didn't make the cut for the Chatterbox team, but I didn't expect to. However I am just over the moon happy that my friend Rachel did!!! I sure hope she makes the team... they would be lucky to have her! There are a few other names I recognize and "know" so CONGRATS to all of you! You girls ROCK!

Kenny is doing OK. His heart rate has been up and down today, but with the meds he's taking it's causing his HR to drop into the 50's and then it bounces up to the high 100's. He's not feeling well at all and has had to adjust the meds again dropping the new one that was added on Thursday and increasing another even though it aggrivates his asthma. I just pray that the Doc. finds the problem node(s) and is able to get the electrical "process" of his heart working well again. It's just been a roller coaster and I am constantly on alert. I am not sure if he's going to make it until Wed. without another visit to the ER. At least if he goes back they'll admit him and get things under control. If they aren't then the procedure cannot be done.
We are both ready for things to get back to a normal pace.

I hope to be back tomorrow with some scrappy stuff to post. I hope the week has gotten off to a good start for you! :)

a card for Creatively Yours

Happy Sunday! It's been too quiet around here without Skye and Ashlyn (Emily, too, even though she's only here for 6 weeks. We almost, and I say almost miss the bickering between the girls. They will be home tomorrow morning and I am looking forward to having them back. :)

Didn't do too much today. I mowed the front and back yards which was a bit too much for my ankle, so I have been taking it easy the rest of the day. Kenny and the girls are having a Grey's Anatomy marathon and I have been scrapping and doing laundry. All in all not a bad day.

This card was created for the Creatively Yours Sketches by Noella blog. I was thrilled to find an email asking me to create a card with this fabulous sketch last week. I had a lot of fun following the sketch and just piled on the layers and color and bling. (sorry the image is blurry... not sure what's up with that.) If you decide to create a card with the sketch, be sure to let me know so I can check it out!

I hope you have a wonderful week! :)

life happens

boy, life sure does throw us curveballs just when we think everything is rolling along at a decent pace. On Wednesday afternoon my dh's heart rate skyrocketed into the 200's and we had to take him to the ER for the 5th time in about 3 weeks. This time we went to Deaconess downtown and he ended up being admitted to the Special Heart Care unit overnight because his heart rate wasn't responding well to the drugs. Of course this being a holiday weekend, nothing test wise was going to happen, and since he wasn't in a life or death situation he was released 24 hours later. They pumped him full of drugs while he was there, prescribed another and then had him double up on the others. He goes back on Wednesday for a Cardiac Ablation procedure. Not sure what's going to come out of this if anything, the cardiologist said that he thinks there is a 1 in 10 chance that this will be successful, but it's a first step. He'll be staying overnight in the Cardiac Unit once again and if all goes well he'll be home on Thursday.
I am freaked out, so is he. I know this is a pretty standard procedure, but still... it's happening to someone I love and I am worried sick that something might happen. I need to be strong for him, and most of all for the girls. I just pray that nothing goes wrong.

I decided today that I was going to try to find the kittens new homes. I loaded them up into a box and snuck them out of the house without Molly knowing. We went to the Wal Mart parking lot and within minutes the only girl had found a home with a young couple and a toddler. Not too much longer someone came by and picked out two of the boys. There were several people who came to see them, but weren't looking to take one. After about an hour I was ready to go home. Kenny wanted to stop by Target so while he and Kara were in there, I sat in the parking lot and managed to send one more off with a new home. So now we have one kitten left. I'll admit, I cried each time someone took one. It was harder than I thought. (I am such a sap ;)) I do feel that they went to good homes. I was really worried about how Molly would react and she's doing OK, but she is walking around looking for and calling to them. This makes me sad, but I am sure she'll be fine. Now we just need to find a good home for the last little guy. I'd love to keep him, but we can't... heck, I'd have kept them all if I could have! Skye and Ashlyn are going to be sad that they are gone, but I told them I was going to have to do this. There's going to be a meltdown over this. lol!

I really need to find my mojo... this stuff with my dh is really draining. I can't sleep, I can't eat, and I can't focus. I have sat down several times to scrap and all I do is push paper around. *sigh* Hopefully I'll find a spark tomorrow.

I hope you had a fabulous 4th! I was wiped out and after I cleaned the house I watched TV for a lot of the day. I really miss my girls and it's hard to be away from them.

my sketch cards for this week

Some scraps from the July CMK kit just happened to be on my desk and they worked perfectly for my card for Sketch This 56. :)

I am not sure why my card for the Di Hickman July #1 card sketch didn't make it onto the blog, but it's all good. I probably forgot to send an attachment. lol!

We had some pretty cool thunderstorms last night. The lightning was wicked cool and we all (well, Skye and Ashlyn stayed in the basement) sat on the back porch and watched. At one point there was a lightning bolt that shot low across the sky in right front of us and another that was really close to the left of us... and I mean REALLY CLOSE! We felt the energy, and heard the "ZAP!" and felt a boom. I thought for sure it had struck just a few houses down. We ALL screamed and ran into the house, we couldn't get in there fast enough, including my hubby! lol Once our hearts returned to our chests, we started laughing about how freaked out we were and how we just flew out of our chairs and tried to cram through the back door as one. We terrified Skye and Ashlyn and they were hysterical. it took a while to calm them down. They thought we were leaving them behind. We went back out and had some hot cocoa and watched until it was time for bed.
The heavy rain and cool air that blew in with it was a welcome change, and I opened up all the windows to cool this place down and get that nice fresh rain scent into the air. That is one of my favorite scents ever! I wish I could bottle it and spray it whenever.

I was lucky and I did get my box from My Acrylic Album yesterday! *happy dance* I got 2 really cute albums and the stamps are just as cute as can be!!! In fact, one of the albums was created with the stamp set in mind. I have an idea for that one, but I really want to give it a bit more thought so I can do it justice. I have already started on the other project. :) We also got a fun ribbon holder thing... I should know what it's called, but it's slipping my mind. I'll get that going and show you. I may actually *gasp* have some organization for my endless ribbon supply that, fess up girls, we all seem to have. ;) Or at least for now a tiny fraction. Currently my ribbon stash is in 4 baskets all jumbled up, not the best system but it works for me. I actually like having to dig through and find the perfect piece for the project I am working on.

The 4th is just around the corner. My parents are going to come get Skye, Ashlyn and Emily tomorrow and take them back to Lake Chelan for a few days so they can be with their cousins. That's so sweet of them! Meghan is working all weekend and Kara is looking forward to a break from the younger girls. She's going bowling with some friends on Saturday anyway. Her and I are also working the concessions stand at the high school on Thursday night to earn money for Grad Night 2009. All profits go to this fund which is going to help us a lot since we need to get some funds into the account.

Have a great day!
