Senior

I have had such a productive scrappy weekend. :) I love it when that happens, especially since it has been awhile.

I played along with the September 15th  sketch challenge from Stuck?! Sketches and this is my layout:

I pretty much stuck to the design of the sketch, just inverting the side for the banner on top. I just felt that it balanced the layout better. Sketches are so awesome! lol

I just cannot believe this girl is a Senior. I only get to do this one more time. It is bittersweet.

Artful Delight giveaway

Hi everyone! Artful Delight is having an awesome giveaway! Click here to find out more. This would be an awesome giveaway to win. The kits are wonderful! There is also a DT call going on. Both the giveaway and DT call end tomorrow so you've got to hurry to enter both. Good luck!

a few cards to share

Happy Sunday! :)

I have a few cards to share that I have made recently. First off is a card I made for the Sketch-N-Scrap card sketch #10. I used to play along with the sketches there all the time. They are wonderful sketches and the designers create such beautiful projects. The Memory Nest is a sponsor for Sketch-N-Scrap this month, for more information just click on the link to the SNS card sketch above. Hurry though, the month is nearly over. Eeek!

This next card is a thank you card I made for my mom.

Lastly, this card I made for my new son-in-law. His birthday was in August. I am not all that great at making masculine things, so this was a challenge for me. I know he likes batman, so I decided that I would find a batman logo and then trace it and cut it out. I really like how it turned out, (even though I think it is too plain ;)) and he loves it! He raved on and on about it. I am just happy that he liked it.

Have a wonderful week!

MME Chalk Studio

Hi! :) I am back to reveal two additional projects that I created for The Memory Nest using the fantastic MME Chalk Studio collection.

First is a wall plaque. As soon as I saw the 12x12  paper with the phrase on it, I knew I was going to stick this on a canvas. The plaque is 9"x12" I layered some of the other papers underneath and added some brads as well as the birds and mustache (which is pop-dotted for dimension) stickers that were included in the kit. I have never used a mustache on anything before, but I think it adds a bit of flair to this project. What do you think?

I also made a card for a very sweet girl I know.

I used some brads for the eyes and nose. From my stash I added the whiskers from Waxy Flax and the ribbon bow.

Here is the layout I created and shared earlier this month using this great collection.

You can purchase your MME Chalk Studio collection kit as well as other great scrappy collection by visiting The Memory Nest store.

Don't forget to use code Raechelle20 to get 20% off your entire order. :)

...... not sure why this card has posted twice. I cannot seem to delete it. I am having a love/hate relationship with Blogger today. lol

Puppy Love

Hi! I played along with the great September sketch at Artful Delight. This is one of my most favorite photos of Moose. He's so little, but he really thought he was a tough guy.

I am not a gold person. I avoid it as much as I can, however the gold doily and LOVE word from the beautiful new Crate Flea Market collection were perfect for this layout and really add a nice finishing touch. I actually might be ok with using a little more gold on my layouts now. I will have to seek out some avoided products now. lol ;)

here is the sketch:

as you can see, I pretty much followed it exactly.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed weekend. :)

SUP

It's time for another challenge on the Color Me Scrappy blog. I titled this layout "SUP". My daughter Skylar says that a lot and it was really the only thing that popped into my head when I was creating it. I wanted to make sure sup was a word before I used it, so I looked it up. Skylar and I got a good laugh out of the definition. Here is the first definition as posted on UrbanDictionary.com:
A term that cool people use because they are too damn lazy to say What's up.

So I guess that catapults me into the "cool and lazy" category. ;) lol

Here is my layout:

and here is the beautiful color palette:

the twist is to use some texture on your layout.

Jump on over to the Color Me Scrappy blog and check out the beautiful new look! While you are there take some time to view the wonderful layouts the design team created for this challenge as well.

Summertime bliss

It's mid month and this means a new challenge on the Use Your Words blog. The September 15th challenge is to incorporate the word "sweet" anywhere on your layout (or card).

Here is my layout:

Come on over to the blog to see what the team came up with as well as to submit your layout for the challenge. Hope to see you there!

challenge #2 at 1-2-3 Get Scrappy!

The second challenge for the new challenge blog, 1-2-3 Get Scrappy! went live yesterday. If you haven't played along yet, you really should. It's so fun to pick a row and work with the selected items. I do have to say though that deciding upon which row to select is tough. I think I changed my rows several times. You can always use more than just the one row, I did that last month.

Here is my take:

I used the middle row going across: circles, rhinestones and die cut. I also went with a back to school theme because I had originally planned to use the last row down, but changed my mind on the stamping last minute.

here is the challenge grid:

I hope to see you join the challenge! Head on over there to view the beautiful work from the design team as well!

So here is my layout for the CMS challenge #44.

have a beautiful day! :)

do I look like a fish?

Hi! Today I am going to share a layout I created for The Memory Nest. Each month the design team members will be working with an assigned collection for the month. We will reveal a project near the beginning of the month, and then share additional work with the collection throughout the month.

Each design team member will also have a discount code which provides you with a 20% discount on your entire regular priced order through The Memory Nest online store.

If you would like to place an order, you can use the code Raechelle20 to receive your discount at checkout. :)

This month I was fortunate to be given the beautiful Chalk Studio collection from My Minds Eye to work with- you can find it here. I had a lot of fun creating with this collection and have some great projects to share with you. Today I will start with a layout.

It is really hard to see in this photo, but I cut a few banners out of the paper and adhered them to the long "chalk" banner along the page to give it some more color. (I really should have taken a photo of that detail, it completely slipped my mind.)

the alphas are from my stash.

You can check out the beautiful work that the other fantastic ladies on the design team created with their collections by visiting The Memory Nest blog.

Don't forget to use the code Raechelle20 when you place your order. :)

I am a warrior

How did it get to be September already?! *sigh* This Summer has flown by. The girls start school on Thursday the 5th. Skylar will be a Senior and Ashlyn will be in 8th grade. We are still trying to create a modified schedule for Ashlyn in hopes that she will be able to attend school this year. This is our 5th year trying and I sure hope she makes it through. At least we have some experience with this and know what works best for her if she becomes to ill to attend once again.
We are just going to have her in the 4 core subjects, math, history, science and language arts. No need to have her in electives, instead she will just go home. A bus will pick her up for school and bring her home when her day is done. We are truly blessed to have this provided for her. It will be nice to not have to take her to school every morning and then pick her up at noon each day. I hope this will not be too much for her, but we have to try and hope for the best. :)

Today, being September 1st, means that it is time for a new word on the Use Your Words challenge blog. The current word is Tough. This challenge was easy for me. Ashlyn is one of the toughest people I know. The title for the layout came from her. She calls herself a Warrior and she could not have chosen a better word to define herself.

Here is my layout:

Head on over the blog and check out all the fantastic layouts the design team created! You can also link up for layout using the word tough until the 14th. Hope to see you join us!
