awesome summer fun

I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to do it, but I managed to create one more layout prior to Ashlyn's surgery tomorrow. It has been a great way to keep the day before a major surgery stress from sinking in too deeply. Now I can clean up my space and feel as if I have left nothing undone.

It is rare for me to create a masculine page, but I am so glad I did, although I had to look long and hard to find papers that worked. lol

This layout is based on the Stuck?! Sketches September 15th sketch

I used the Funky Piecharts and WORD2 cut files from JustNick.
I have a new addiction to JustNick. ha! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to be the lucky winner in the random drawing at Stuck?! this month. One can dream...

cute

As many of you may know, Ashlyn will be having Spinal Fusion surgery this coming week (Sept. 29th). I have been busy trying to prep for her surgery and long recovery, so the only scrapping I have done the past few weeks has been for design team work. I am all covered until November, so I took today to create just for me.
I decided to partake in the newest The Studio Challenges challenge, which is to use watercolors. This challenge took me outside of my comfort zone, but I am loving the end result! I "borrowed" this photo of my oldest daughter and granddaughter from her facebook photos. I just thought it was so sweet.

I created the flowers by painting an 8.5x11 sheet of watercolor paper pink. I then used the Lazy Daisy cut file from JustNick to cut out two sets of the flowers; one on the painted watercolor paper and another on plain white watercolor paper. I then added some pops of orange, yellow and blue to all of the cut pieces. A few were layered and some were left as is. The leaves were cut from white watercolor paper using the Make A Wreath cut file from 17turtles and then colored with a couple of green watercolor shades.

I also used the Simple Scallop Strips cut file from JustNick to add a bit more black and white to this layout.

every summer has a story

As I was digging through my stash, I came across a layout that I had started last year (just the background) but never quite finished. While I still wasn't quite feeling it, I decided just to go for it, and here is the end result. Not a fav, but another in the books.

I was inspired to add the frames using the September 11th challenge from The Studio Challenges blog.

supplies:
pp. stickers, frames, enamel dots: Simple Stories

shine bright

Wish upon a star- create a layout using stars is the newest challenge theme on the Picture This! challenge blog.

I had a lot of fun with this one! As soon as I saw the challenge I knew which photo I wanted to use and immediately got an idea in my head. Initially I was going to make this bright and bold, but after pushing some paper around I decided that soft and airy would work better.

supplies:
pp: MME and Webster's Pages
stickers: Fancy Pants and Simple Stories
chipboard alpha: Thickers
twine: Webster's Pages
spray mist: Shimmerz
sequins: Hazel & Ruby and stars
