Say It With Letters project

I was twice blessed this month having been asked to be a guest designer for E.A.D Designs as well as Say It With Letters. I love all the fun little shapes and letters Deb has in her etsy store, damboise designs. I was sent a darling little whale shape and as soon as I saw it, I just knew it had to be a girl. I saw flowers and stripes and a big water spout. For instructions go here and you can read how I made her.
Thanks Deb! I am honored to have been with you this month!

Yesterday Skye, Ashlyn and Emily had a yard sale. Skylar is quite the little organizer (she has a great business sense for 13) and had everything planned and directed everything. She even had the little details planned out like having bags and free ice water and Otter Pops. I let them do everything on their own and they did a wonderful job. They didn't make a lot of money, i think partially due to it being a Friday as well as it being 100' here. Today is up in the air for the sale, but for now I think they are going forward with it. It's going to be much cooler, only about 75' with a chance of rain and t-storms. We'll see how it goes for them. I work from 10-6, so I will be gone all day. I hope they do well.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

it's another E.A.D blog hop!

Good morning! It's the 3rd Tuesday of the month and this means that it's time for another E.A.D Blog hop! It's been such fun playing with the product this month! I decided to create a mirror to coordinate with the frame from the August 11th blog hop. I just applied the oh-s0-cute Paris Vinyl Rub-ons onto the surface of the mirror and then added a bit of bling just to add some pizzazz. I also added some pearls around the corners just to continue the theme. I really like how this turned out and it only took minutes to create.

I also created a card using two of the dragonfly shapes from the Bugs Vinyl Rub-ons. I really wanted to keep the card subtle, and since I ordered the black set, I decided to try something different, just to see how it would look. I actually think it looks OK (what do you think?). Instead of lifting the backing off of the rub-on once I applied it, I left it on and then cut around the shape. It's difficult to see in the photo, but irl you can see the patterned paper underneath and it has a nice soft look to it. I applied a bit of Stickles to the top just to add some shimmer. I used a solid black shape underneath the top layer, just to add a shadow and dimension.

Thanks again for having me this month Emily! I had such a wonderful time showcasing your awesome products! Be sure to check out what the talented DT has created this week and then hop back onto the E.A.D Designs blog and leave a comment. You are sure to be inspired!

SPCC #12

Hi all! Here is my take on the SPCC challenge this week. I love this vibrant and oh-so-pretty combo! I have been wanting to scrap this photo for a long time now, and even with the energetic colors, I am happy that the end result is a bit soft and subdued (at least I think so). Here is the color combo this week:

Come play along this week for your chance to win a fantastic prize donated by icopic.com. Check it all out here.

I am so tired of this Summer cold I seem to have been holding on to for the past few weeks. I think it's mostly just being worn down. I am going to call it an early night and head off to bed and read. Take care,

Time sure flies...

Wow. I think time has sped up, because I sure have felt like I have no time at all for anything. I go to work, eat, sleep and then it's another day. I am sure getting the kids ready for school has a lot to do with it as well. I feel like a brainless, walking zombie and I don't like it.

We did take a down day on Friday and piled the girls and dogs into the car and went on a day trip into Montana. I have some pics and will share them sometime this week. It was wonderful and rejuvinating to get away for a bit.
Here is a layout I created a few weeks ago for The Scrappy Shack. I used a new Summer die cut as a mask and sprayed Glimmer Mist over it, and once dry lifted it off and then cut around it to use as a background. I also sprayed an extra flower shape from the same die cut, cut the flower out, used some Shimmerz on the flower and then used as an embellishment. It's so fun to use die cuts as a mask. You should give it a try. There are a lot of really cool die cuts to choose from in the Scrappy Shack etsy store.

Well, I am off to work. I hope you are having a beautiful Sunday!
Take care,
Rae

Just a little something I read and wanted to share

Nothing scrappy today, just something I read on another site, and thought I would just post it for others to read if they haven't seen it before. Sometimes it's easy to forget the simple things when we get caught up in all the big things.

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born
A Death Certificate shows that we died
Pictures show that we lived!

Have a seat . . . . Relax . . . And read this slowly

I Believe . . . That just because two people argue, It doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, It doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe . . . That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I Believe . . . . That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe . . . That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I Believe . . . That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I Believe . . .That it's taking me a long time yo become the person I want to be.

I Believe . . .That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe . . . That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe . . .That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe . . .That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe . . . That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe . . . That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe . . . That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing, and have the best time.

I Believe . . . That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe . . . That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe . . . That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe . . . That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe . . . That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe . . . That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe . . . That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I Believe . . .
Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I Believe . . . That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe . . . That even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.

I Believe... That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being. 'The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; They just make the most of everything'.

I hope your week is off to a great start!
Take care,
Rae

SPCC #10

I know it's a few days late. (sorry) I have to tell you that purple is not my favorite color to scrap with, and I will admit that I silently groaned when I saw that I was going to have to use it for this color challenge, however I have discovered that it isn't so bad to work with, and I have been wanting to scrap these pics for awhile. So in the end it worked out. I am sure purple will come up again (I think this is the second time, maybe third), so maybe I won't be as leery the next time.
The color comob this week is the following:

E.A.D Blog Hop day!

Good morning! I am SOOO excited about this... I am the guest designer for E.A.D Designs this month! If you haven't been over to their site, or blog, then you need to get on over there and check it out. I tell you, these products are top-notch and you will not be disappointed. I didn't even have to use the stick to apply the rub ons, I just rubbed them on with the tip of my finger.

Onto my projects. I made this frame for one of the girls' rooms by placing paper in the photo slots and then applying the rub ons directly on the glass. I then added a few accessories to finish it off. Currently Kara and Ashlyn both want it. I just may have to make another. It was fun and easy. I used the Vintage Vinyl dressforms to create this.

I added a strip of velvet ribbon and cut a paper flower to size and then finished with a rhinestone.

for this one I just tied a piece of tulle and added some bling

I also finished this one with a piece of ribbon, a flower and a rhinestone.

I also made a card... corny sentiment, I know, but he's just too cute! I applied the bee from the Bugs Vinyl set onto carstock and then cut around the edges. I added yellow glitter and some black Stickles to give him some pizazz. I cut some tulle out for wings and added a sprinkle of glitter to them.

just a few things

Happy Monday! I have a few scrappy things to share today. I made these for a 'Summer School' class on the Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking site. The challenges are really fun, and I am hoping to get to the remainder of them, but being gone pretty much all of last week has really wiped my mojo. I need to get back in a groove, but that just may not happen in time. lol
'Nose Scrunch' and the card are hybrid. It's been a while since I have done one of those.
I did some paper pleating that I have wanted to try on 'Cutie Patootie'.

Have a great week!

Mix It Up mixer 26

hi all! Here is my take on mixer 26 from Mix it up! These pics of Emily jumping into the lake last month were perfect for this.

Be sure to check out what the other ladies on the team came up with... fantastic as always!

And I'd like to congratulate Juliana for making the Bo Bunny DT! Wohoo! It's about time someone snagged her talented self up. Hop on over to her blog and congratulate her.

I took Ashlyn back to the gi doctor in Seattle last week. It was a good appt., even though things are still up in the air a bit. The great news is that she is almost back to her weight that she was in Jan. The meds have really started to kick in and she is eating like a horse! She has put on 8 pounds in the last 3 weeks. She is also almost back to her old self, as well, which is what I missed the most. It's the little things that I have noticed and it makes my heart happy. She is more energetic than she has been in 7 months even though she still tires easily. This is frustrating to her because she feels so well now. Her boby just needs to play catch up.

She does have to do a follow up test in November and if a "flag" shows up than she will have to undergo another colonoscopy. Hopefully this will not be the case. I don't know how she would hold up to another one so soon after the first one.

We are also going to take her off her Asacol the end of Novemeber and see what happens. She has another gi appt. in mid-December and we will know in that 3 week time period wether she needs to continue the meds or we need to go in another direction. The doctor isn't 100% confident in diagnosing her with a true IBD just yet. She wants to be sure since her Colitis could have been a viral thing. Since she does have an autoimmune disease, and if turns out it's not Colitis, then we need to return to the oncologist and follow up in another direction. So, there is a mixed blessing there. We could know more in December or we could wait years again to know what is going on.

For now I will take things as they are. I am not sure what to hope for... either way it's something. I just need to really try to keep my spirit lifted and take things as they come and enjoy what we have now.

Take care and have a beautiful Sunday!
Rae
